Jerusalem protest against the Deteriorating Relationship between Fateh and Hamas

Citizens and representatives of political parties and civil society organizations gathered in Rammallah on February 7th, 2007 to protest against the current violence taking place between Hamas and Fateh. The Protesters gathered first in front of the presidential headquarters in Rammallah, where a statement was read and distributed, condemning those involved; the demonstrators then walked toward the cabinet offices with the same massage.

The act came as a follow up to the public debate organized by the Arab Thought Forum on the deteriorating relationship between Fateh and Hamas held on January the 3rd. The working group established during the public debate met on February 2nd, 2007, it was agreed to issue a statement on the issue and to organize two demonstrations to protest against the violence, one in front of the presidential compound and the other on front of the cabinet offices in Ramallah. The group met again on February 6th to review the final preparations.
