The Arab Thought Forum (ATF) is committed to the belief that state structures must be developed to serve and be responsive to an active and critical public, which is conscious of its obligations and duties, as well as its rights and entitlements
In order to build on its dedication and commitment to a participatory Palestinian democratic society, ATF has initiated various conferences and symposia in Jerusalem and the principal districts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The objective of these meetings is to encourage debate, solicit opinion and support the democratic process by encouraging transparency and accountability in the government through the involvement of all segments of the society. ATF designed these meetings to attract maximum participation of the Palestinian leadership and public. The main principle is to put into action those concepts that demonstrate the benefits of actual involvement in the democratic process. Public debates provide a platform to address and discuss issues of special importance in Palestinian civil society. Presenters often include officials and leaders from governmental and non-governmental organizations, institutions and concerned individuals who are involved in the topic of the meeting. These debates are designed to attract an active audience who we encourage to raise questions, present their thoughts, express their opinions and contribute to developing recommendations. An important feature of public debates is the suggestions and recommendations that result which ATF is then able to follow up.
